The Brief
XYZ Tech Solutions is launching a new product, a task management application called TaskFlow Pro. To create buzz and promote the product, they need a short video that reflects the colorful, puzzle-themed branding.
My goal was to concept, design, storyboard, and animate parts of the video.
The Process
As always, the process begins with research and working with the client to reference other works for inspiration.
Next, sketches help narrow down a final look and feel.
Style frames (below) are fully designed single frames (pictures) of what the final animation will look like—or very close to it.
Animation
After the style frames are designed and approved by the client, an animatic is created with placeholder music (removed for this case study) to establish rough timing.
Finally, it's time for the fun part: add everything in between. I collaborate with another animator to bring the style frames to life.
After five weeks in the oven, the final product is handed over to the client.

Animatic

Using a plugin called Noodle V2 by Goodboy Ninja, I was able to parent layers to the cursor and offset them without adding any extra keyframes
